Dot Abyss Tier List: Best Characters

This tier list ranks every SSR in Dot Abyss for the launch meta (version 1.0, June 2026). Rankings weigh damage output, survivability in base-defense battles, support value across the 10-unit formation, and how hard each character is to obtain.

Tier Rankings

The launch meta revolves around the Impact (衝撃) emblem engine — characters who generate or consume Impact stacks snowball hard in long auto-battles. Limited pickup units are placed assuming you can still pull them.

TierCharactersNotes
SSWendy (limited), Vira (limited)The two launch pickup units. Wendy anchors the front line; Vira deletes waves with freeze. Both leave the pool when the pickup ends.
SElectra, Pico, NinaThe strongest permanent units. Electra and Nina are top attackers, Pico is the best back-line enabler in the game.
ALaveria, Sylvia, Myrtille, HymenaExcellent units that slot into most teams. The Luxnova three are ultra-rare pulls (0.06%); Hymena can be claimed free from beginner missions.
BEtia, Frederica, Film, Wisteria, Magnolia, Emily, Hatsune, Hinagi, Honoka, RamonaSolid SSRs that work fine while your roster grows. None are traps — invest if you like them.
This is a launch-week assessment based on kit analysis and early community testing. Expect movement once players reach deeper Abyss floors and the first balance patch lands.

02

Best Characters Explained

Wendy

SS / Front / Limited Pickup

A crit-counter tank with enormous HP and built-in self-healing. She stacks Impact when hit, then unloads it through her skill for a large heal plus counterattack. Long defense battles are exactly where she shines — if you secure her at launch, your front line is set for months.

Vira

SS / Back / Limited Pickup

A water-element back-line mage who applies Freeze through both normal attacks and skills, stalling enemy waves while her Passion stacks raise damage and freeze potency. Crowd control plus top-tier damage in one slot makes her the best offensive pull of version 1.0.

Electra

S / Attacker / Permanent (0.06%)

A high-performance android attacker who consumes Impact for burst damage. Every critical hit permanently stacks her attack during the fight, and kills recharge her skill — she accelerates as battles go on, ideal for idle clears.

Pico

S / Back Support / Permanent (0.06%)

The premier back-line support: boosts allied skill damage, grants Impact stacks, and can negate Impact consumption so your attackers fire loaded skills repeatedly. Pairs absurdly well with Electra and Nina.

Nina

S / Attacker / Permanent

An evasion-based attacker who converts successful dodges into Impact, then spends it on a devastating skill. Self-sufficient, easy to obtain compared with the Luxnova trio, and a perfect first SSR to build around.

Team Building & Stances

Defense battles deploy up to 10 characters across three stances. A stable launch composition looks like this:

  • Front (3–4 units) — tanks and bruisers who absorb the Calamity's hits. Wendy, Hymena, or sturdy SR knights like Rosa hold this line.
  • Back (4–5 units) — your damage core. Vira, Electra, and Nina want maximum uptime; protect them with a solid front.
  • Assist (1–2 units) — buffers and healers. Pico's skill-damage amplification multiplies the entire back line's output.

Mind the emblem economy: Passion (情熱) units self-charge by acting, while Impact (衝撃) units need stacks generated by hits, dodges, or supports. Mixing one Impact generator with your Impact spenders keeps skills cycling.

04

Beginner Mission Pick: Hymena, Magnolia or Emily?

Clearing the 7-day beginner missions awards a Select SSR Box with a choice of one of three characters:

PickVerdict
Hymena — Water-fist front-linerBest overall pick. A durable front-line brawler that every account can use, especially if you missed Wendy.
Magnolia — Magic-plant controllerGood if your back line lacks utility; her crowd control supports Impact teams nicely.
Emily — Aggressive front attackerPick for raw front-line damage if your tank slots are already covered.
These three are also normal gacha drops, so do not target them in the tutorial redraw — aim the redraw at the twelve select-pool SSRs instead and let the mission box fill the gap.

Ranking Criteria

  • Auto-battle value — Dot Abyss is an idle RPG; kits that perform without manual input rank higher.
  • Long-fight scaling — stacking buffs (Electra) and sustain (Wendy) outperform flat stats in extended defense waves.
  • Formation impact — supports that multiply a whole stance line (Pico) are weighted like top attackers.
  • Availability — limited pickups and 0.06% ultra-rares are noted so you can plan rerolls and spending realistically.
